Thanks for the Memories!! Let's do it again!
This whole elementary blog idea started in 2000 when a few RHS classmates' emails spread like wildfire. This blog consists mostly of conversations regarding our 40th reunion and, of course, memories from our elementary days. As we approach our 45th reunion, please share your comments, memories and wishes on our
RHS Class of '70 Facebook page. Let's start with...
Are you interested in reuniting with your elementary classmates again in 2015?
So... how do I blog????
Please add a comment to any of these conversations! Look over our selection of blogs in the right menu, including those within past months. When you are feeling inspired, simply type a mesage in the "Post a Comment" text box. Underneath the comment box, open the "comment as" menu and select "name/url" (unless you have a listed profile). Type your name; you may leave the url blank. You may choose to be anonymous or include your name within the text as well. Select "Preview" if you would like to see what your comment will look like before it is published. You may choose to delete a message after it is published but it will leave a message stating "comment removed by blogger". Come on...You know you want to join us!
(from an email dated 12/23/09) Pam states: I had Mr. Slicker for a teacher twice, 6th and I believe 4th grade. I thought he was a great teacher. I think I had Mrs. Howerton for 3rd. Does that sound right? What are the stories about Mr. Slicker?
ReplyDeleteI have been perusing our year book.
Make out parties: I attended a few. We were breaking social/sexual ground. Spin the bottle… Bowe, I think at one party you asked if I wanted a kiss and when I got up the courage to say yes you passed me a Hershey’s kiss. Obviously a memory that has stayed with me.
Rick Bowe responds: All right, you blabbed our little secret. When we see each other at the reunion I was planning (no kidding) to give you another Hershey kiss. Of course I remember it. It would take me 4 full years after that party to really kiss a girl. And even when I did, I suspect that the chocolate would have been preferable to the girl.

ReplyDeletePam counters with: Rick, Sorry to ruin your surprise. Are you saying that back then you would prefer chocolate over kissing a girl? Or are you saying you are not a good kisser and the girl would have preferred chocolate? Enough about all the spin the bottle stuff.
ReplyDeleteOrganizing a Willard event sounds like funJ
Pam recalls: My memories are improving with each email.
ReplyDeleteI remember the bicycle inspection. I also played tennis against that wall. I remember challenging anyone who would race especially the boys. Bowe, you were pretty fast, running that is, weren’t you? I loved walking down the HHK hill. I remember the 5 & 10 and the soda fountain where you could get ice cream cones, candy etc. I used to love to walk the woods that overlooked Hohokus and there was a bleachery or some sort of plant that would dump some waste or by product that caused the water to foam and smell. We would walk all the way to the dam. Things changed a lot when they built the new Ridgewood Tennis Club at one end of the woods. I remember ice skating at Graydon pool.
Rick Bose responds: Fast indeed…running, that is. I passed along my speed to only one of my daughters, who runs hurdles for Harvard (http://www.gocrimson.com/sports/track/2009-10/bios/womens/bowe_cassandra). I suspect she could even beat you, Gail.
ReplyDeleteYou talk about walking down the HHK hill. How about riding a bike UP the hill. Almost impossible back in the day. Last fall I did it 3 times in a row (up, turn around, down, turn around, up…) with current bicycle technology. As we get older, technology can sometimes ameliorate the inevitable decline of the body.
Editor's comment: Sorry! The above was from Rick Bowe not Bose:( I should just call him Ricky, then we all know who I'm talking about!
