Thanks for the Memories!! Let's do it again!

This whole elementary blog idea started in 2000 when a few RHS classmates' emails spread like wildfire. This blog consists mostly of conversations regarding our 40th reunion and, of course, memories from our elementary days. As we approach our 45th reunion, please share your comments, memories and wishes on our RHS Class of '70 Facebook page. Let's start with...
Are you interested in reuniting with your elementary classmates again in 2015?

So... how do I blog????

Please add a comment to any of these conversations! Look over our selection of blogs in the right menu, including those within past months. When you are feeling inspired, simply type a mesage in the "Post a Comment" text box. Underneath the comment box, open the "comment as" menu and select "name/url" (unless you have a listed profile). Type your name; you may leave the url blank. You may choose to be anonymous or include your name within the text as well. Say Hi to Judy Hall Saydah

  1. (from email dated 1/24/10)Here are the rest of the pics I have (see class photos below). I don’t have kindergarten labeled, but you can figure out who everyone is. I was absent that day. Do I count correctly that we had 40 kids in a kindergarten class!!!?

Kent Scroggs definitely had the sweater/tie thing going, although he tried to cover up the fact that he had a tie on in 4th grade.

I always loved that Mr. Napier was in Mr. Walters’ spot on the 6th grade pic.

    Wasn’t Mr. Felacy the best?

  2. I (Judy Hall Saydah) went over to Willard School the other day and spoke with the principal. I explained about our reunion and asked if they had any archives of pics or whatever. She thought they had some pics from the 30’s, but records were sketchy. They just found some stuff in the attic, so she’ll contact me if they find anything from the 50’s-60’s.

She also didn’t see a problem of a tour of the school on that Friday, although was quick to point out that we could not enter the classrooms. We can figure out if it is something we want to do.

  3. I wonder if they still have and use the cloak rooms? Maybe we could arrange a time to visit after dismissal. But then again, if they are like most teachers, everyone wants to vacate the building on a Friday! Thanks, Judy, for checking into this!

  4. Thank YOU, Judy Hall for taking photos of all the other elementary schools in town for the other school blogs. I agree, Willard is definitely the classiest!

  5. Judy, your NEW pictures of Willard and of our favorite hang-outs are excellent! Thank you so much for giving us out-of-towners a virtual tour of our past! I have posted all of the photos on the slide show at the bottom of this blog.

  6. Judy, these pictures are great! I like the way they've modernized Willard without losing its feel. One thing in particular I did note. They've moved the baseball diamond from one corner by the blacktop to the other. And I can imagine why. I remember one time we were all playing softball when your brother John happened to ride by on his bicycle. I'm guessing he was in 7th grade. When we saw him we all invited him to play. At first he said 'no, gotta go'. But we kept badgering him so finally he said 'alright'. And sure enough as soon as he came to bat, he hit the ball and 2 seconds later it went smashing through Ms. Curly's window. At that point he got on his bike, said 'see ya', and rode off. I don't think he even ran around the bases.
But my point is - by moving the baseball diamond to the opposite corner they no longer have that problem. Makes me wonder how many years and how many softballs it took before they finally figured that one out.
