Thanks for the Memories!! Let's do it again!

This whole elementary blog idea started in 2000 when a few RHS classmates' emails spread like wildfire. This blog consists mostly of conversations regarding our 40th reunion and, of course, memories from our elementary days. As we approach our 45th reunion, please share your comments, memories and wishes on our RHS Class of '70 Facebook page. Let's start with...
Are you interested in reuniting with your elementary classmates again in 2015?

So... how do I blog????

Please add a comment to any of these conversations! Look over our selection of blogs in the right menu, including those within past months. When you are feeling inspired, simply type a mesage in the "Post a Comment" text box. Underneath the comment box, open the "comment as" menu and select "name/url" (unless you have a listed profile). Type your name; you may leave the url blank. You may choose to be anonymous or include your name within the text as well. Select "Preview" if you would like to see what your comment will look like before it is published. You may choose to delete a message after it is published but it will leave a message stating "comment removed by blogger". Come on...You know you want to join us!

what a delightful site, ms judy!! kudos to your skillful talents. didn't recognize the school initially as my 'front' was via the soccer field/blacktop area. she's quite a grand ole gal, isn't she?? have there been any additions?

  2. yeah there was at least one major addition a few years after we left. But since then? I don't know.

  3. I think the photo that is on there now is actually before "the primary grade wing" was added. It was "after the fire." I couldn't find many photos in my Internet search. This perspective was more recognizable to me than the brick wall that said Willard! the administrative offices are in the newest wing that Bob mentioned, facing Morningside Rd. I noticed the address has changed from California St. to Morningside.

    1. The front of Willard – it looks similar but not quite like I remember it. ie, there’s a front foyer area by the front door. I don’t remember such a thing and one of the other (older) pictures you have doesn’t show it. I guess it must be something that was changed after we left. True? In the picture it looks old though. Are we really that old? And what’s this about a fire? When did that happen?

    2. I’ve heard several people mention Mrs. Hay as their second grade teacher, and indeed there’s even a picture to document it. But I’d swear that I had Mrs. Hay in first grade. So can anybody back me up here?

    My Thoughts on That...
I remember the front foyer off of California street. The office was on one side, the nurses office on the other. I think they even flip-flopped one year. The color photo was taken when I visited around 1985. The offices are now on the Morningside main entrance. I don't remember what the old admin rooms are being used for.

The fire was "before our time" (finally SOMETHING before our time!). I found the pic in Paul McCubbin's website about his era at Willard. http://rhs1977.blogspot.com/2009/10/willard-school-1968.html

Maybe my teaching career went from 15 years teaching first grade to teaching second because Mrs. Hay did it. I don't remember her from first (NOT to say it wasn't so!) but I did enjoy her in second!

Ah, Mrs. Hay, my favorite (and only) second grade teacher.

I may have a picture. I just returned from a trip so I will try to look over the weekend and see if I can find.
